Thomas retired as the Supervising Detective Sergeant over the Metropolitan Salt Lake County Collision Reconstruction Unit. Previously, Thomas was assigned to the Traffic Bureau as the Lead Traffic Accident Reconstructionist. Thomas has 20 years of experience investigating over 5,000 traffic accidents ranging in severity from minor to fatal. Thomas is an ACTAR (Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction) accredited expert in the field of Collision Reconstruction. Thomas has taught a wide variety of collision investigation related topics for the Salt Lake City and Weber State University Police Academies. His training includes Northwestern University TAR 1, 2, and 3; Bosch Crash Data Retrieval software (airbag control module and electronic data retrieval). He is also a current Bosch CDR Course Trainer. Thomas also has a CDL with double and triple endorsements.
